Privacy Policy

Effective August 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how DegreeArc ("DegreeArc," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the DegreeArc degree-planning service. DegreeArc is a planning tool and is not an official student record, transcript service, or degree audit supplied by your school.

1. Information we collect

Account information

Clerk provides authentication for DegreeArc. Depending on how you sign in, Clerk may provide us with your account identifier, name, email address, profile image, connected sign-in provider, and basic session information. DegreeArc does not receive your third-party account password.

Degree-planning information

We store the information you choose to enter, including your institution, degree credit goal, majors, minors, General Education requirements, custom requirement sections, terms, courses, course credits, statuses, and the requirements to which a course is assigned.

Technical information

Our infrastructure and authentication providers may process IP addresses, device and browser information, request timestamps, authentication events, cookies, and diagnostic logs needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral advertising.

The current version of DegreeArc does not ask for grades, GPA, transcripts, payment-card information, or precise location.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  • save, calculate, and display your degree plan;
  • provide support and respond to requests;
  • detect abuse, investigate errors, and protect the service; and
  • comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms.

3. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as needed with service providers that operate DegreeArc, including Clerk for authentication, Convex for application data and backend functions, and our hosting and security providers. These providers process information on our behalf under their own contracts and privacy commitments.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of the service subject to appropriate notice and protections.

4. Cookies and authentication

DegreeArc and Clerk use cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary to sign you in, maintain a secure session, remember authentication state, and prevent fraud. Disabling essential cookies may prevent the service from working.

5. Retention and deletion

We retain active degree-planning information while your account remains open or as needed to provide the service. You can edit or delete individual planning records in DegreeArc. If you delete your account through account management, DegreeArc queues the active planning records associated with that Clerk user identifier for deletion. That asynchronous cleanup may take a short time to finish. Limited copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, security logs, or provider systems where required for recovery, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service, including authenticated access, per-user authorization checks, encrypted network transport, signed webhook verification, restrictive browser security policies, and trusted infrastructure providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You can review and change most planning information directly in DegreeArc and manage profile or security details from the Account menu. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Children

DegreeArc is intended for college and university planning and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material and applicable law requires it.
